Outward Bound California
Our Partnership
Outward Bound is one of the most successful outdoor education programs in the world and their California branch has been a vital branch in extending their mission. Like other organizations who offer scholarships to underrepresented youth, they have been forced to drastically cut back on transportation. Yoots and OB have been working towards a solution for quite some time, and the fruits of the labor are coming to harvest.
Yoots program: We received a generous grant from the Henry Mayo Newhall Foundation to help Outward Bound expand it's programing to another San Francisco Title One school. In addition, we will kick-start a weekend shuttle to their San Francisco ropes course from several communities throughout the City.
Their Mission

The center of Outward Bound’s educational philosophy is the belief that for young people to succeed, they need character growth and skills to assume leadership roles and take positive approaches to life’s challenges. By engaging students in demanding situations, often in unfamiliar environments, Outward Bound allows students to develop as leaders while also encouraging self-reliance, physical fitness, craftsmanship, service to those in need and the environment and, above all, compassion.
